Kim & Khloe Take Kape Town

Cape Townians are very laissez faire about celebrities, we're more concerned with enjoying our gorgeous beaches, the blazing African sun and impeccable landscapes than following silly celebrities.

The Kardashians came to town this past week, however, and a very small few young ladies decided that we would join forces to hunt them down! Lots of people knew where they were but like I said in Cape Town nobody really cares.

The true Kardashian fans headed to the airport to attempt a warm Cape Town welcome unfortunately for us finding them proved very difficult. After driving from the main airport to executive jets section, then rushing back to domestic arrivals, spending a few hours on the airport (and parking is NOT cheap) we were disappointed and tired. A few of us (me included) gave up on the hunt and others like my friend Sehaam Khan decided to go home and regroup on the mission. We did however bump into Vanilla Ice and Mc Hammer on the airport. They were so sweet and stopped for pictures and even allowed us to harass them as to whether the Kardashians were with them!

Kim K tweeted a view from her hotel and my sister and I decided that we would try match the view to all the popular hotels in Bantry Bay and we figured out that they were staying at Ellerman House, an exclusive and extremely private hotel. We found this out before anyone in Cape Town so we dabbled over waiting outside the hotel but decided it was way to creepy for us. We informed Sehaam about the news and the rest of the Kardashian hunters and they all headed off to Ellerman House where they got a first class view of the Kardashians.

Sehaam was able to sneak into the Brutal Fruit "invite only" Kardashian party where she schmoozed, got autographs and photos with Kim and Khloe. I was disappointed to hear that Kim was on her blackberry the entire time. Sehaam later headed to McDonald's (a local celebrity hotspot it seems as this is where I saw Akon earlier this year) and met up with Kim and Khloe in the McDonald's queue for more candid pictures!

I was definitely bummed that I didn't get to see them, I had to attend a very close friends birthday, but I enjoyed the mission with my little sister. Nothing like sister time!

I used to be a die hard Kardashian fan because I am quite exotic looking and so are many of my friends (in other words we're not your average white girl) and that has never really been considered beautiful until the Kardashians made it cool to be exotic. This all changed though when I read their very miserable tweets about how they were sad to be in South Africa. I was surprised as most celebs who come here love it and never want to leave! Some even purchase holiday residences in Cape Town. Why come all this way for a few dollars and not enjoy the beautiful scenery, rich culture and friendly people.
Maybe the Kardashians are more superficial than I had hoped.
