Last week Friday's look was all grey stonewashed denim peplum skirt and floral in your face as the city saw a bit more sun. The peplum trend is making a huge wave this year according to Vogue, but I've always been a peplum fan. The frill adds much needed curves to my boyish physique. The puff shoulder in this jersey crop helps too since it gives me a bit of a broader shoulder. So... to all those tiny girls sending me emails for tips on how to look more "womanly" this is one little trick I use. Its all about knowing your body and what works best for you! Thats why I love the Olsen twins so much they're about my height and also have a really small frame but somehow look amazing in almost anything they clothe their tiny bodies in.
I paired this with knitted over-the-knee socks and brogues. (I couldn't where my chunky extreme heels to campus unfortunately). I have a really embarrassing story about this skirt which I thought would be funny to share with my readers. I was trotting along campus looking a little bit fantastic (or so I thought) chatting to tons of people and walking past what seems like millions of people- realistically though it was probably only 70 students. I walked down the enormous and iconic 'Jammie Steps' of UCT to get to my car. Upon reaching my friends house I caught a glance of my rear view and realized I had been walking around with the zip of my skirt down the entire time! Luckily for me I was wearing my top tucked in so I didn't have a 'wardrobe malfunction' worthy of Janet Jacksons fame but it was embarrassing non the less. What do you think of my look? Don't forget to go to www.glamour.co.za to get a sneak peak of what I'm wearing today!
Sending you sunshine.
